Oscar Murillo Song to a tearful garden HERO

From 14.03.2026 renowned contemporary artist Oscar Murillo will take over the spaces at DAS MINSK Kunsthaus in Potsdam with his project Collective Osmosis, a celebration of mark-making that creates a moment of exchange between his paintings, the visitors, and the work of Claude Monet. For Murillo, the scientific metaphor of osmosis, the process by which water particles move through a semi-permeable boundary with the aim of reaching a state of equilibrium, can be seen as a model for opening the museum, building bridges between the indoor and outdoor space, between the museum and the city, as well as between Potsdam and the world. The exhibition also marks the first collaboration between DAS MINSK and Museum Barberini, with works by Oscar Murillo on display at both institutions.

The podcast “Perpetual Blue” maps Oscar Murillo’s practice and its connections to Claude Monet, as his abstract paintings share the walls with Monet's water lilies, grainstacks, and Houses of Parliament at DAS MINSK and Museum Barberini in Potsdam. Writer and editor Kate Brown traces the links across conversations with Murillo, DAS MINSK director and exhibition co-curator Anna Schneider, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) director Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, and art historian Evie Hatch, asking what paintings, pigments, and marks carry with them — and what it means to make an institution porous.

Der Podcast »Perpetual Blue«&nbsp;beleuchtet das künstlerische Schaffen von Oscar Murillo und dessen Verbindungen zu Claude Monet, dessen abstrakte Gemälde im DAS MINSK und im Museum Barberini in Potsdam neben Monets Seerosen, Getreidestapeln und dem Parlamentsgebäude ausgestellt sind. Die Autorin und Redakteurin Kate Brown beleuchtet diese Verbindungen in Gesprächen mit Murillo, der DAS MINSK-Direktorin und Mitkuratorin der Ausstellung Anna Schneider, dem Direktor des Hauses der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung sowie der Kunsthistorikerin Evie Hatch. Dabei geht sie der Frage nach, was Gemälde, Pigmente und Pinselstriche vermitteln – und was es bedeutet, eine Institution durchlässig zu machen.
