The guided tour offers insight and background information into the extraordinary work of artist Annemirl Bauer. Key themes of the exhibition are presented through paintings, drawings, collages, and objects spanning more than three decades of her career. The focus is on issues of gender roles and power dynamics, self-empowerment, human rights, environmental destruction, and state oppression. Bauer’s works reflect her uncompromising commitment to social justice and her steadfast resistance to the repression of the SED dictatorship. The tour offers new perspectives on an artist who inextricably linked art and social activism.
