The Sound of Noah Davis—a conversation about an artist, the sounds he left behind, and the ones imagined, while looking at his paintings. 
&nbsp;

You will meet art curator and writer, Helen Molesworth, professor and writer Tina M. Campt, pianist and artist Jason Moran, as well as director and curator Paola Malavassi, in a mix of thoughts, sounds, and music, all developed while trying to imagine how Noah Davis’s paintings sound. Their voices are joined by the voice of the artist in an archival recording of a lecture he gave in 2011.

Curator Paola Malavassi initiated the podcast as a way to explore the phenomena of sound in Noah Davis’s paintings—laughter, a bell, D-flat, rap, classical music, jazz, the sound of the street, a public swimming pool, a basketball yard, a TV playing in the room next door. Besyv and FilmTone, two Danish companies telling sound-driven stories, transformed these imagined sounds into a unique audio experience about Noah Davis’s life and art.

Paola Malavassi: “To imagine the sonic power of painting, an art form that is inherently silent, has been a curatorial obsession of mine since reading Tina M. Campt’s book "Listening to Images" and understanding more about Jason Moran’s approach to sound. Sound penetrates our bodies and opens new spheres of experience that go beyond words and the visual.”

Erleben Sie die Kuratorin und Autorin Helen Molesworth, die Professorin und Autorin Tina M. Campt, den Pianisten und Künstler Jason Moran und die Direktorin und Kuratorin Paola Malavassi bei dem Versuch sich vorzustellen, wie die Bilder von Noah Davis klingen könnten. Das Ergebnis ist eine eindrucksvolle Mischung aus Gedanken, Sounds und Musik – ergänzt durch die Stimme des Künstlers aus dem Archivmitschnitt eines Vortrags, den er im Jahr 2011 gehalten hat.

Campt gelesen und mich mit Jason Morans Herangehensweise an das Thema Sound beschäftigt habe, bin ich von der Idee besessen, die klangliche Kraft der Malerei – einer an sich stummen Kunstform – vorstellbar zu machen. Sound durchdringt unsere Körper und eröffnet neue Erfahrungsbereiche jenseits von Wort und Bild.«

Wilder Alison’s open towel edition was developed in the context of the exhibition <a href="https://dasminsk.de/en/exhibitions/4478/soft_power">Soft Power</a> curated by Daniel Milnes and allows their art and working practice to enter into everyday rituals: Being wrapped in it after a bath or shower, using it as a blanket, or packing it for the next beach vacation. With the towels, Alison echoes the formal language of their wool paintings and reflects upon the process of their making.

Die offene Handtuch Edition von Wilder Alison wurde im Rahmen der Ausstellung <a href="https://dasminsk.de/ausstellungen/4478/soft_power">Soft Power</a> (kuratiert von Daniel Milnes) entwickelt. Sie integriert Alisons Kunst und Arbeitspraxis in alltägliche Rituale: Sich nach dem Baden oder Duschen in das Handtuch einwickeln, es als Decke benutzen oder für den nächsten Strandurlaub einpacken. Die Handtücher greifen die Formensprache von Alisons Wollbildern auf und reflektieren deren Herstellungsprozess.&nbsp;
