From 28 to 30 August, DAS MINSK celebrates its first summer festival, MINSK LIVE. Three days of talks, performances, live music, guided tours, culinary experiences, and hands-on workshops — all free of charge and open to everyone.

Three days of exciting events centered around DAS MINSK

MINSK LIVE is welcoming visitors of all ages. The festival also brings together artists from both the local and international scene. Its program deepens DAS MINSK's longstanding commitment to the cultural and historical legacy of the GDR and the East German context.

Exhibition at the Kabinett: Wilfriede Maaß’s Ceramics Studio

The festival opens on friday August 28, 2026 with the ceremonial launch of an exhibition dedicated to the ceramic studio of Wilfriede Maaß. An artist talk, live music, films, and food set the tone for a weekend defined by exchange, encounter, and shared experience.

The exhibition at the Kabinett of DAS MINSK is dedicated to the history of the ceramics workshop as an important hub of the nonconformist cultural scene of the GDR in Berlin. On view are ceramics created by Wilfriede Maaß and other artists, presented alongside paintings from the Hasso Plattner Collection, with a focus on the 1980s and 1990s.

Fresh Pizza from the Oven Sculpture

The artwork Brenda by Argentine artist Gabriel Chaile, located in front of DAS MINSK, invites visitors for the last time this summer season to enjoy art with all their senses, gather together, eat together, and participate in community life through culinary experiences. Brenda is crafted from traditional, simple materials and named after one of the artist’s sisters. The stylized facial featuresare reminiscent of pre-Columbian artifacts from Chaile’s native region.

The summer festival helps pass the time until the next exhibition. The current exhibition, Oscar Murillo. Collective Osmosis, is on view through August 9 and invites visitors to join in group painting sessions on the terrace, among other activities. Starting September 5, DAS MINSK will present the comprehensive retrospective Annemirl Bauer. A Rapture in the World.

The full program will be announced soon.
