Drawing from the indigenous cultures of Northern Argentina, Gabriel Chaile has developed a sculptural and social practice that shifts between form and function, crafted from traditional, elemental materials like adobe,&nbsp;mud&nbsp;and metal. An important strand of his work is an ever-growing series of sculptures that also function as ovens.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Brenda, 2022&nbsp;is named after&nbsp;Chaile’s&nbsp;sister&nbsp;and is decorated with&nbsp;stylized facial elements reminiscent of&nbsp;pre-Columbian artefacts from his native region of Tucumán.&nbsp;Beyond a sculptural presence,&nbsp;Brenda&nbsp;invites people to gather, cook, bake bread, share&nbsp;food&nbsp;and&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in communal life through culinary experience.&nbsp;Brenda&nbsp;has been activated in both artistic and public&nbsp;contexts, including&nbsp;at&nbsp;the&nbsp;Biennale&nbsp;Gherdëina:&nbsp;Persones&nbsp;Persons, 2022,&nbsp;and&nbsp;during the creative community project&nbsp;Arcadia&nbsp;in&nbsp;Leeuwarden, 2025.&nbsp;

During the summer season of 2026, Brenda&nbsp;will be activated&nbsp;on Saturdays from 4 to 8pm&nbsp;and&nbsp;additional&nbsp;special&nbsp;occasions, providing&nbsp;pizza and baked snacks&nbsp;for the visitors at DAS MINSK.&nbsp;

Inspiriert von den indigenen Kulturen Nordargentinens hat Gabriel Chaile eine skulpturale und soziale Praxis entwickelt, die zwischen Form und Funktion oszilliert und aus traditionellen, elementaren Materialien wie Lehm, Schlamm und Metall gefertigt ist. Ein wichtiger Strang seines Schaffens ist eine stetig wachsende Serie von Skulpturen, die gleichzeitig als Öfen fungieren. &nbsp;

Brenda,&nbsp;2022&nbsp;ist nach Chailes Schwester benannt und mit stilisierten Gesichtselementen verziert, die an präkolumbianische Artefakte aus seiner Heimatregion Tucumán in Argentinien erinnern. Über ihre skulpturale Präsenz hinaus lädt Brenda Menschen dazu ein, sich zu versammeln, zu kochen, Brot zu backen, gemeinsam zu essen und durch kulinarische Erfahrungen am Gemeinschaftsleben teilzuhaben. Brenda wurde sowohl in künstlerischen als auch in öffentlichen Kontexten aktiviert, unter anderem auf der Biennale Gherdëina: Persones Persons,&nbsp;2022,&nbsp;und während des kreativen Gemeinschaftsprojekts Arcadia in Leeuwarden, 2025.&nbsp;

Während der Sommersaison 2026 wird Brenda&nbsp;samstags von 16 bis 20 Uhr sowie zu weiteren besonderen Anlässen in Betrieb sein und den Besuchern von DAS MINSK Pizza und gebackene Snacks anbieten.&nbsp;

About Gabriel Chaile

Gabriel Chaile (1985, San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentina) lives and works between Buenos Aires and Lisbon. He graduated with a BA in Fine Art at the Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, Argentina. He works at the intersection of anthropology and art, drawing on the indigenous cultures of Northeast Argentina to reconstruct and carry forward his cultural lineage.&nbsp;

Gabriel Chaile (1985, San Miguel de Tucumán, Argentinien) lebt und arbeitet zwischen&nbsp;Buenos Aires und Lissabon. Er schloss sein Studium der Bildenden Künste an der Universidad Nacional de Tucumán in Argentinien mit einem Bachelor ab. Er arbeitet an der Schnittstelle von Anthropologie und Kunst und greift dabei auf die indigenen Kulturen des Nordostens Argentiniens zurück, um sein kulturelles Erbe zu rekonstruieren und weiterzuführen.&nbsp;
