The book club RESONANCES is organized in cooperation with the Institute for Arts and Media at the University of Potsdam. The starting point for this dialogue between art and literature is the work of the artist Oscar Murillo. Over a drink at Café Hedwig, participants gather in a relaxed atmosphere for conversation and exchange. Through the interplay of text and image, shared reading opens new perspectives and interpretive possibilities within the artist’s work. Each of the three sessions will focus on a short text. The exploration of literary and (art) theoretical classics will be introduced and moderated by the students.
Seminar Instructors:
Dr. phil. Maria Weilandt, Prof. Dr. Johannes Ungelenk (General and Comparative Literature, Institute for Arts and Media, University of Potsdam)
The following excerpts will be read as part of the book club. The texts will be provided to participants after they register.
Cennino Cennini: Das Buch von der Kunst. Aus dem Italienischen von Albert Ilg, 1871 (Auszüge)
Ludwig Wittgenstein: Bemerkungen über die Farben. 1977
Maggie Nelson: Bluets. Jonathan Cape, 2009 (Auszüge)
Roland Barthes: Cy Twombly. Aus dem Französischen von Walter Seitter, Merve, 1983, S. 7-35
Honoré de Balzac: Das unbekannte Meisterwerk, Aus dem Französischen von Herma Goeppert-Frank, Insel, 1983
Parallel to Oscar Murillo's exhibition, DAS MINSK is collaborating with the University of Potsdam to present an accompanying academic program that explores the artistic questions raised in the exhibition in dialogue with historical and contemporary social debates on migration, integration, and collective spaces of experience.Through reading, discussion, and research, the exhibition becomes an open space for thought, where art and scholarship productively intersect.
Free Admission. This offer is limited to a maximum of 15 people per date.
