Music and soundscapes play a role in many of Noah Davis' works. What does the piece that the conductor in The Conductor (2014) directs for an invisible orchestra sound like? What soundscape is evoked by the work 1975 (8) (2013), in which a boy dives headlong into the cool waters of an outdoor pool? The sound dimension of DAS MINSK and the paintings by Noah Davis will be explored in a modular series of workshops.

The physical materials of DAS MINSK — such as walls, floors, and banisters — will be transformed into musical instruments. DAS MINSK is made to resound through its interaction with self-fashioned sound material made from mallets and ear trumpets. Guided by the question of what sounds the building and Noah Davis' paintings evoke, they will develop, record, and present their own sound compositions.

Using recording equipment, a mixing console, and active speakers, participants will experiment, improvise, loop, and compose. The workshop is designed for art and music enthusiasts of all ages; a minimum age of 8 years is recommended. No previous knowledge is required.

The workshop series consists of three modules, each of which is offered twice a month. Each module is self-contained and can be attended individually or in combination with the others. By presenting confirmation of a previously booked module, additional modules can be booked without an additional ticket to the museum.
