On Sunday, September 8, 4 pm, Alto saxophonist and composer Immanuel Wilkins (Blue Note Records), a rising star in international jazz, will give an intimate performance amidst the works of Noah Davis. Wilkins will play in dialogue with the exhibited paintings by the African American artist, many of which reference music, dance and sound.
Immanuel Wilkins (b. 1997) gained acclaim with his 2020 Blue Note debut, Omega, earning top accolades from The New York Times and NPR. His subsequent success includes his critically acclaimed sophomore release, The 7th Hand (2022), extensive international tours, collaborations with renowned artists, and numerous prestigious awards, such as the 2023 DownBeat Critics Poll for Best Alto Saxophonist and Best Rising Star Composer. In 2024, Wilkins and his quartet won the German Jazz Prize for International Live Act of the Year. His latest project, Blues Blood, will be released on Blue Note on October 11.
The performance is included in an exhibition ticket from 3 pm and free for holders of annual pass.
