Tina M. Campt, Roger S. Berlind ’52 Professor of Humanities at Princeton University (USA) and theorist of the visual cultures of the African Diaspora, will give a lecture based on her essay written for the catalogue for I’ve Seen the Wall, which explores the complex tonalities summoned by Armstrong's historic 1965 tour and how they continue to resonate in the exhibition at DAS MINSK. Focusing on seminal works in the exhibition by Glenn Ligon, Lorna Simpson, Terry Adkins, and Gordon Parks, Campt’s lecture, Armstrong's Zwischentöne is an invitation to listen carefully to the nuances and subtexts that emerge between the lines and between and among contemporary works of art that provide a bridge for understanding and sustaining the complicated relations between the present and past.
Note: The event is free of charge. Tickets can be reserved in advance.
