In the research project Art in Networks: The GDR and its Global Relations (1949-1990), a digital research platform has been created that documents the international relations of artists, architects, museums, and cultural actors from the GDR in numerous interviews. The website will be introduced through a series of short introductions, after which participants can search the site and view the interviews. The scholars are present and will be available for an exchange about the site’s contents. Parallel, they will offer insight into working with interviews as a means of documenting art history. What are the methodological advantages and challenges of dealing with memories and emotions in eyewitness accounts? To what extent do they broaden scholarly perspectives on transcultural art history(s) of the GDR? Finally, there will be an overview of the next research project: Affective Archives – Travels Abroad by Artists in the GDR.
In the OPEN WORKSHOP format, DAS MINSK lets scholars use the workshop space during the exhibition WERK STATT SAMMLUNG, opening up the workshop as a working and thinking space for current research projects on art from the GDR. Participation in the event is included in the exhibition ticket.
The event will be in German.
