Conversation on Mail Art
Mercer Gallery at Monroe Community College, Mail Art to Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, 1988. The Artist and The Mail Art Archive of Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt and Robert Rehfeldt
With Marie Egger, Kornelia Röder, and Thomas Schulz, moderated by Nora Kaschuba
May 5, 2023
7pm (Entry 6pm)
Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt, along with her husband Robert Rehfeldt, has been an important node in the Mail Art network since the 1970s. In 1975, they invited their network to send contributions for an exhibition at the Galerie Teatru in Warsaw with the slogan “No Jury, No Fee, No Return.”
What place does Mail Art occupy in Ruth Wolf-Rehfeldt’s oeuvre? What are the current research questions? And how did Thomas Schulz’s exceptional Mail Art collection in Potsdam come about? An overview of Mail Art will be given in a conversation between scholars and an artist that addresses its significance as artistic and political medium in both local and international contexts.
A prior visit of the exhibition is possible from 6pm and included in the event ticket.
The talk will be held in German.
